Simply put, Kathy is an amazing trainer and person. I could see during our initial consultation that our dog felt safe and calm around her, and looked to her for leadership. Over the course of the eight sessions we had with her, I witnessed a significant transformation in our dog’s behavior and relationship with my partner and me--from one of willful disobedience, to looking to us for guidance and leadership.
Unlike some of the other training programs we had researched, Kathy does not offer a cookie cutter program; instead, she really tailored each session to the specific needs, weaknesses and strengths of our dog. She was always patient and understanding of whatever issues or setbacks we had in our training, but at the same time very honest and firm in what she expected from our dog and us. It’s obvious that she takes training seriously and demands that of her clients as well. The sessions were just as much about educating us on dog behavior and how to be more effective leaders, as it was about training the dog.
I really appreciate that she makes herself available by phone and email to answer any questions that we have about training or how to handle specific situations or behaviors. Even though we have completed our training with her for quite some time now, she checks in with us to see how our dog is doing and to invite us to her free monthly group training sessions. She is not only a fantastic trainer, but her passion for her profession and dogs shines through in every interaction and communication I have had with her. No matter the age or breed of dog, I truly feel everyone should get their dog trained through Cause and Effect Dog Training.
