9 days prior, my beloved Coda girl died in my arms.\u00a0 I was in such grief, I couldn’t go home.\u00a0 I stayed at friends’ houses.\u00a0 I couldn’t bear smelling her, not seeing her, not touching her.\u00a0 I couldn’t bear any of it. I had gone back to work and was dropping off Sylvia and Charlie. They lived in a not so great part of\u00a0 Oakland.\u00a0 I jumped in my truck and\u00a0 something deep inside me told me to look over at the house across the street.\u00a0 It was so clear to me to do this.\u00a0 The house was a wreck, old and decrepid and beyond it there was a yard with a dog chained up to the fence.<\/p>\n
I don’t know how to explain this other than God was on the street with me.\u00a0 I got out of the truck and walked onto the property into the backyard, to this dog.\u00a0 What I came to was the most horrible case of neglect I had ever seen in all my years of dog rescue.\u00a0 This poor wretched soul was skin and bones, jutting out everywhere.\u00a0 The chain around his neck had rubbed his skin raw.\u00a0 There was no food, no water, and no shelter anywhere for him.\u00a0 I did not need to think or ponder anything,\u00a0 again- God gave me Pure Action.\u00a0 I undid the chain and picked up this Rottweiler.\u00a0 I carried him to my truck and at the same time, a neighbor came out hurriedly.\u00a0 I jumped in the truck with the dog and sped away.<\/p>\n
I had not been home in 9 days. Pure Action brought me home.\u00a0 This boy needed tending to. He needed a warm place to eat and rest and know me.\u00a0 I drove right home and welcomed him.<\/p>\n
He ate 9 bowls of food in 3 hours.\u00a0 I DO NOT recommend this.\u00a0 This was my mistake.\u00a0 He could not get enough sustenance.\u00a0 He was ravenous.\u00a0 He slept fully through the night on a thick bed of blankets.<\/p>\n
I awoke to being back in my home with a soul that needed me, so desperately.\u00a0 I had no more time to mourn Coda.\u00a0 I only had time to give\u00a0 to this poor boy.\u00a0 He needed immediate vet care and my care to stabilize him.\u00a0 The vet said he probably had less than a month to live- he was being starved to death.<\/p>\n
On March 4, 2001-\u00a0 I was brought out of my deep grief in a flash.\u00a0 I was given a job.\u00a0 I was needed.\u00a0 In just a few seconds, I felt the immense rush of being a protective mom.\u00a0 I was called to be here for him.\u00a0 I knew instantly that we were meant for each other.\u00a0 I knew that he had things to tell me and teach me.<\/p>\n
I named him Benjamin.\u00a0 It was instant intense beautiful love.\u00a0 His bones would heal with me, his mind could rest with me,\u00a0 his heart would open with me.\u00a0 And the gift he gave me is so vast, it almost can’t be named-\u00a0 He gave me the Knowing that We are All One.\u00a0 We are all here to Awaken to Our True Nature- which is Pure Love and Pure Consciousness.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
