{"id":150,"date":"2009-05-09T17:44:08","date_gmt":"2009-05-09T17:44:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/causeandeffectdogtraining.com\/blog\/?p=150"},"modified":"2010-06-17T23:05:30","modified_gmt":"2010-06-17T23:05:30","slug":"letting-go-of-being-right","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/causeandeffectdogtraining.com\/blog\/2009\/05\/09\/letting-go-of-being-right\/","title":{"rendered":"Letting go of being right"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I am interested in transformation in this life.\u00a0 I really want to evolve and grow as a human.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t just want to hold tight to my ideals and beliefs and have to prove I am right again and again yet do you realize that is what most people do? I am guilty.\u00a0 Our egos are so caught up in\u00a0 having to be right about everything that\u00a0 it truly forgets the bigger picture-\u00a0 where to find peace.<\/p>\n<p>Look at how many ways I had to be right yesterday-\u00a0 disagreeing with my friend&#8217;s choice in a romantic partner, judging my friend for being angry about a run in she had with another dog owner, cutting my friend off because she talks too much, or dreading talking to a friend who is suffering and really down.\u00a0 In all of these scenarios,\u00a0 my ego or better called- the &#8220;little me&#8221;\u00a0 separated herself from the other person by judging him\/her.\u00a0 The little me thought that she knew better in each circumstance.\u00a0 The little me\u00a0 couldn&#8217;t just listen without an opinion building up inside her.<\/p>\n<p>The ego is a complex system of beliefs, thoughts and opinions so there is no quick way to disengage it.\u00a0 It&#8217;s been around for millions of years perhaps.\u00a0 It chooses having to be right over union and cohesion every time.\u00a0 I am not saying that we have to agree with our friends, peers or even random strangers every time.\u00a0 Instead,\u00a0 what I&#8217;d like to do more often is pause and reflect and not need to offer an opinion.\u00a0 Let them have their ideas without my input.\u00a0 Let them do what they do from their beliefs without my passive aggressive glance.\u00a0 Let them cry, yell, wail and express\u00a0\u00a0 their strongly held beliefs and I just let it all be right here.<\/p>\n<p>This is a spiritual practice.\u00a0 This is the beginning of dismantling the little me that believes she knows whats best.\u00a0 Because when you really think about it-\u00a0 who knows anything?\u00a0 Life is an unfolding mystery and just when we think we know\u00a0 what to do or say-\u00a0 the universe throws us a curve ball that can leave us speechless.\u00a0 There is no magic how to book on how to react or look at life and its myriad of pains, choices, and rejoices.\u00a0 There is just each moment- where we can either\u00a0 join someone in their unique moment or stand on our soapbox and profess to know how that moment should be lived&#8230;..
